Pregnant after 35

My back is killing me today.

This is the first time it has hurt for no reason, usually it has been from standing too long or over-exerting myself. All I want to do is soak in a nice hot tub with the jacuzzi jets hitting the right spot but that is at least 7.5 hours away.

Any tips for relieving back pain when sitting in an office chair? I am miserable today.

Re: My back is killing me today.

  • Can you put your feet up on another chair?  I have lower back pain pretty regularly...when it gets really bad, I take a walk around the office...go to the restroom...hit the vending machines...ha ha!...  but the walking around usually seems to alleviate the pressure a bit.

  • Try to sit up as straight as you can.  Mine hurts more when I slouch... which I do all the time.  Hope it feels better soon.

By the way... how was your "surprise" shower at the office?  It was yesterday, right?

  • Dana- it was yesterday and it was a lot of fun. They all got me a nice gift card which should take care of the remaining "necessities" on my registry. Thanks for asking.

I thin  you guys are right good posture and frequent walks will probably make it feel some better.

  • i haven't tried this but, I've heard that sitting on an exercise ball helps.

    Hope you get some relief!

  • I don't know how much good advice I have on this except to put your feet up... I sure hope you feel better soon

  • I have been getting these when I sit too long. The best cure (for me) is to get up and walk around or stretch. I'm not sure if you can touch your toes (or even want to try), but something like stretching forward or back (while in your chair) or up might help, too.

  • Honeslty...I took tylenol at my dr's approval. It is the only thing that made me feel better. My back has felt fine for the last week so I am hoping it was just getting used to my latest weight gain.
