Babies: 3 - 6 Months

I've got to say, I'm kind of shocked...

by how many people are willing to post about whether or not they have guns in their home!

The internet is full of crazies and I'm definitely not comfortable having that info out there.

  • Good point.

Although someone telling me they have an arsenal in their house would certainly be a deterrent to me.

  • why would knowing or not knowing whether or not a stranger on the internet has a gun in their house make you uncomfortable?

Yeah, but you're not crazy.  Maybe it would just make a crazy bring extra supplies.

This. I don't mind people knowing we have them.

It doesn't make me uncomfortable to know whether or not you all have guns, it would make me uncomfortable to put that info out there about myself.  You never know who's reading it, and as anonymous as we all like to think this place is, it's possible to figure out who people are.

Most aren't looking for a fight. I think they would go for the easier target. That is why someone is more likely to try to get in an empty house than one that is full of people.

Same here. I grew up in a home with guns and my DH is a police officer. He has a gun with him (not necessarily (sp?) on him) at all times.

  • I'm not too nervous about it b/c we have them all in a secure gun safe and DH never keeps ammunition with them.  We also have an excellent and reliable home alarm system that is hotwired to the gun safe.  If anyone other than us were to try and open it without the correct code, the silent alarm would go off.

Perhaps, but what if someone has an issue with you specifically and they're not just looking to break into a random house.

So is my DH. He wears one almost all the time. And there have been at least 2 or 3 times I'm really glad he did.

Then I don't think them knowing whether or not I have a gun is going to stop them.

This is precisely why I can't bring myself to post pictures of my LO.

  • I don't see how it's any different than having pictures of your baby in your sig.

What are they going to do with a picture?

  • On that same thought, what is someone going to do if they know I have a gun? Come to my house and steal it?

    I don't understand the concern.

If I said "I have a gun and I live at 123 Main Street, sometown, USA" that's putting too much info out there. But to say "yes I have a gun and yes we keep it locked up", what info is really being put out there that could be dangerous to me or my family?

My point is that you don't have to put your address out there for someone to be able to figure out who you are and where you live.  Maybe it would just give them a bit of an advantage knowing that you have a gun.  Knowing that it's locked up means it would take you a little bit longer to get to it than it would if it wasn't locked up.
