Vent: six week madness

I feel so bad for my child! She naps, wakes up, wants to eat. So I give her the breast and she takes it for awhile and then starts to fuss to the point where she can't eat anymore. I have to Harvey Karp her down to even feed her all day long. I know she is refluxing, I can smell it and hear it, occasionally see it. I put in a call to see if the doc will call in some zantac or something for that. I hope it helps. Mylicon does nada, she poops, she burps, she is clean and changed and still crying

  • My LO does this too, especially in the am. I'm raking her to the pedi tomorrow, Does the baby hammock help?

  • I think she sleeps better in it, but it's the feedings that are so distressing to me. I do think she likes the hammock though. It seems more comfortable than the bassinet she was in before.

  • Do you have an overactive letdown?  If so, have you tried hand expressing until it lets down?
  • 6 weeks was really rough for us.  Maybe she's going through the 6 week growth spurt?

  • I tried laying back and nursing with her laying across me on her tummy,, but I don't think it really helped much. She has phases where it gets worse and  better. Also it seems okay at first, it's later when she starts to get agitated and arch and cry. I thought at one point it was when the flow was slowing down, but breast compression doesn't help much either. I tried taking some herbal stuff called tummy tincture but I don't think it helped much either.

  • Reflux is so heartbreaking and frustrating- especially when you KNOW that its there (hearing it, etc).  I hope that you do find a solution- especially during nursing.  GL with the dr tomorrow, keep us posted!
