3rd Trimester

how soon after delivery will you go on vacation?

I haven't taken a vacation since spring break and really wish that we could go somewhere this winter and take advantage of our time share.

Re: how soon after delivery will you go on vacation?

  • when we 1. have money and 2. have time

so in other words, probably never.

  • Yeah...we haven't traveled all year and won't for a while.  We won't have any money during maternity leave, so we'll have to have a staycation in our home.
  • I was thinking when LO is a few months old, a weekend drive to Palm Desert would be nice, but DH's work and school schedule will probably get in the way.

  • We are delivering January 4th..our first "vacation" will be Mother's day..only bcuz there isn't another one really coming up..I had dd on June 26th and we went for a weekend vacation the 1st of September..It wasn't too bad..there was some extra planning and such, but with patience we all survived..
  • We are planning a trip to HI when LO is 6 months old. DH & I will probably have a little weekend getaway by ourselves before then, though.
  • our first vacation will be in the spring to Connecticut, where my mom's family lives.  This will be their first time meeting Austin.
  • The earliest we are going on vacation is Vegas in April (DH's birthday) & Hawaii in May (1 yr anniversary). Baby will be 5 months & 6 months old ... we don't want to go any time sooner then that .

  • We'll be driving across the country to visit family for the holidays when LO is about 3 weeks old, but that will hardly be a vacation.  We plan to take a long weekend trip for our anniversary in March, though.

  • Vacation, what is this that you speak?

A real vacation...hmmmm..... We're looking at a week or so in Charleston,SC in about a year...next October. LO will be about 9-10 months old.

I am not counting the trips back home to visit family or for weddings and stuff like that, To me, that's more work than a vacationWink

Hadn't heard this. The ladies on the travel board apparently haven't either. many are flying with their LO barely a month after birth.

  • Oh no why haven't you been anywhere since Spring Break?  I went to DC in April, NOLA in May and Vegas in August and I'm still feeling like I have the travel bug.

We aren't planning on anything right away but would really like to celebrate our 5 yr anniversary with a little getaway to Chicago for a night or two.  My mom may offer to keep LO we will see.  Our anniversary is early Jan but we really don't plan to go until later winter/spring.  Also I'm starting to think about a beach vacation in the summer w/ LO.

  • haven't gone anywhere because we were short on money since we had to pay our home birth midwife out of pocket.  But now that that's paid, I'm thinking about traveling.
  • We're planning to go visit my mom (a snowbird) at her condo in Florida in February for a couple weeks. That should be about 3 months after baby is born.

  • DH isn't much of a traveler and really only likes to go see his family back east, which is not something I'm interested in doing when I DON'T have a child . . . so we might go somewhere next year for Xmas . . . key word = might.
