we stopped purees around 7 months. it was too much of a battle to get her to open her mouth, she'd much rather feed herself. she's now on all finger foods (I steam or bake everyhing).
i send "meals" to school w/ her in separate containers so all they have to do is heat it up and put it on her tray. ie lunch today was winter melon, mushrooms and carrots.

J only tolerated purees for a few weeks. I half pureed and half chopped, then chopped, then cubed. We haven't moved past cubed in a while, and are working on not shoving the whole food item that's not cubed in his mouth.
And I didn't do anything differently for daycare, just sent it in the same food container.

Andrew eat purees off and on until he was 13 months. He started table foods around 8 and did great for awhile but wasn't a huge eater so we still threw in some purees. Then around a year he totally rebelled and would only eat purees and then on day no more purees and he only wanted food.
With Cooper we've just started fingers foods.
Don't know if it matters but Andrew started solids a little after 6 months and Cooper around 5.
Char will still eat them so I still serve them. She eats almost as soon as we get home from work, so I need something quick and easy. So, I usually give her a pureed veggie and then some protein/cheese/carb as a finger food.
I stopped when she was able to start feeding herself. Like if I put cheerios on her tray she would pick them up and eat them. But I would only do fruits and veggies non-pureed, meat I would still do unless it was ground already. Pasta, it depended on the type. Our daycare provides food for them so I didn't have to worry about her lunch/snacks.
