QOTD: How are you handling visitors when baby is born? Is anyone welcome at the hospital? Just immediate family? Is anyone planning on staying with you for a bit?
Me: We are saying no visitors at the hospital this time around. It was too much last time. I was supposed to be napping, bathing, recovering and bonding. Not much of that occurred, instead I was entertaining visitors and letting everyone else hold DS. This time, they can wait.
Re: First in '10 Monday Check In
We planned to have no visitors at the hospital last time - but then I ended up alone in my room for long long long periods of time.
Now I'm in the "The more the merrier" camp. Assuming normal visitation rules in January.
QOTD: How are you handling visitors when baby is born? Is anyone welcome at the hospital? Just immediate family? Is anyone planning on staying with you for a bit?
Because this is grandchild #1 on both sides I don't think that I'll be able to get around not having any visitors at the hospital. Hopefully though it won't be too bad. We're currently not talking to a few of my uncles and aunts.
My mom is going to be staying with us for a week or so after LO comes home. I'd rather it she than my MIL.
Mio Marito per Sempre: Married 2009. SD is 12 yrs. DD is 4 yrs.
DS born 12/29/14
It's too bad that it doesn't seem possible (with my family at least) to be able to do something in the middle. Like restricting the times or something. We tried to do that last time and MIL burst into the room unannounced while I was trying to take a nap. We even had a note on the door!
i want no hospital visitors so i am planting the lie now with my ILs that the flu policy means tighter restrictions.
i still want them in town to help with DD and they'll be staying nearby. so they can come and go easily and not make me feel like i have houseguests in my hair.
my sister lives in town and i'm sure she'll be around but probably just to bring me food etc.
!!!!
You have to basically be buzzed in at the maternity ward in our hospital. You can't get past the nurses without checking in, and they are really strict about keeping track of visiting hours if you want them to be, and they'll keep track of approved and disapproved visitors lists...
I can't believe you got busted in on by visitors! Craziness!
My MIL is very "special".
Yay, my first day on 3rd Tri! My first shower was this weekend and it was awesome- it made everything so real!
QOTD: For the hospital, I only want my parents there the first day and then will see some visitors the last day. My parents will stay with us as they are traveling far but no one else is allowed to- it's too stressful. The in-laws live 2 hours away- they are not allowed at the hospital or to stay with us.
QOTD: since we are planning a home birth we are hoping people will call so we can at least decide if we want to have people over or not.
My mom will be here around my due date but that doesn't mean I'll have Squirt then and we may have MIL in town as well.
I'm allowing visitors. I've never thought to not have visitors. I don't want people hanging out holding the baby for hours on end, but a couple hours is no big deal to me. I remember everyone pretty much clearing out within a couple hours with my neices and nephew.
At the hospital, we're not allowing anyone in until baby and I are both cleaned up, rested a bit and have had an hour or so alone together with DH. I'm asking that only my parents, sister and IL's visit at the hospital (will hopefully only be there 2 days anyway). I know that many people will be ticked at this but, I really don't feel like I need to be entertaining at that point. I'm actually hoping that my hospital wil be limiting visitors due to flu season (I'll find out next week at our L&D tour).
Back at home, we are not allowing anyone to stay with us. Period. My parents are welcome to stay with my IL's or at a local hotel for a few days but, they cannot sleep at our place (we do not have a guest room, just our bedroom and the nursery). I'll be happy to have other visitors once we have been home for a week as long as they call first...no drop ins. DH only gets 2 weeks off from work and I want it to be bonding time for us as much as possible, rather than a revolving door.
big brothers 12.2009 and 02.2012
We also booked all our appointments until 40 weeks, it felt great!
QOTD: I am still trying to think through what I want my "policy" to be. A friend just had a baby last week & asked that all visitors come on day 2. I am leaning towards asking our family to do the same. However, it will depend on the time of day he's born. I just want enough time to rest and bond with the baby right after he's born before other people start taking him away. I definitely do not want anyone in the waiting room while I'm delivering.

I just have to say, I am glad to be back with the other First in '10 mommies in the 3rd Tri. I made the move today and am super excited!
QOTD: Being that this is the first grandchild/great grandchild on my side of the family, the no visitors things probably wouldn't go over too well. But, I am going to say at this point, I don't mind! That may change next time around. DH is planning to stay in the hospital with me, and I think during that time my parents will be staying at our house. That way, they can not only be closer to visit with us (they live about an hour away), they can help take care of our dog. I figure too that other family will come down, and I don't mind. I know my brother and my SIL will both be there rather quickly. They are both very excited. So, for us, visitors are welcome!
QOTD: How are you handling visitors when baby is born? Is anyone welcome at the hospital? Just immediate family? Is anyone planning on staying with you for a bit?
I would prefer very limited guests/visitors at the hospital. I know immediate family will be there along with my ds1. Afterwards, my mom wants to come and stay for a couple of weeks...i'm not sure how i feel about this, this time around. When i had ds1 i was a single mom and wanted all the help i could get, now DH will be with me and i really think we need a few days with out my crazy @ss mother around! (I love her dearly, but she can be a bit much).
We had a great weekend
I was really productive and DH and I got to go to a corn maze yesterday, which was so much fun.
Our hospital actually is only allowing the significant other at the hospital, so really, that takes care of how we're handling visitors. My mom will come to our house when we get home.

Last time only my parents and sister visited at the hospital and this time they are welcome again-but depends on what my hospital is allowing for visitation at that time. since some are starting to limit visitors etc. the only person there most of the time will be my hubby-and even he left at night the last time and probably will this time as we have another child! hoping my little girl can come visit at the hospital when the time comes!
Had my MI shower this weekend! It was a blast! It was great to see family members and old friends that I haven't seen in a long time. Baby H got lots of wonderful stuff! Waiting for the pics, then I will post them.
QOTD: Our hospital visiting is rather limited, only 4 people besides DH are allowed during visiting hours so we are assuming lots of people will come to the house after the baby is born. My parents will be staying with us for maybe a week after the baby is born (they live in a different state). As for other family and friends, I assume they will come in waves and hopefully wait a few days for us to settle in!
I had my baby shower yesterday afternoon, it was a perfect day! Hailey got lots of great things! She already has her own library of books from the wishing well!
QOTD: I am not 100% sure on the policy, but I htink anyone can come since seeing tons of people in one room during Lamaze class last week.,, haha. I am just hoping for immediate family and close friends, but spread apart. The day she is born I would like my parents, sister, IL's, SIL's and my grandparents and that's pretty much it for that day. Maybe the next day my aunts and close friends can come, but I don't want it crazy.
HI!! I haven't checked in a couple of weeks. I guess i just missed the check on 2nd tri and didn't really feel right posting on 3rd tri.
I spent a few hours in L&D yesterday. Ends up there is blood in my urine and I was havin intestinal cramping. BOO!!
QOTD: Haven't really thought about it much but i assume i will let immediately family (those who make the trip) and a few close friends. We dont have a lot friends here so I am not too worried about it.
We plan on having my parents stay with us for awhile. Esp Mom and sister. Dad will get home back to work.
I am sure that we will have lots of vistors at the hostipal. I would rather them come to the hostipal then to come and camp out at our house.
I am sure there will be lots of vistors at the house too. Hopefully they will call fist.
My mom will probably be around a lot after our little girl is born. She lives in the same town, so she won't be staying with us.
I have my third 2 week appt on Weds. and DH and I second anniversary tomorrow so dress up nice date night. probably last one before LO comes.
QOTD: How are you handling visitors when baby is born? Is anyone welcome at the hospital? Just immediate family? Is anyone planning on staying with you for a bit?
Since most of my family is out of town it will probably just be his parents at the hospital. Not sure on the visitors limit. DH parents live like 5 minutes away so I don't think they will be staying with us right after LO is born, but I will have MIL stay with me before LO is born if we have a snowstorm or ice since DH works nights. Then about 2 or 3 weeks after LO in born most of my family will fly in for weekends or a week.
No shower for me this weekend... DH and I were doing the Austin Film Festival this weekend
QOTD: How are you handling visitors when baby is born? Is anyone welcome at the hospital? Just immediate family? Is anyone planning on staying with you for a bit?
I'm not sure about the hospital... I don't think we can stop anybody from coming, but if I'm too tired or skeeved out, DH can send them away.
My mom is coming to stay with us for two weeks once Charles gets here.
QOTD: Just close family. They're pretty sensitive to our comfort, so hopefully we can kick them out if we need some alone time. All family is local, so thankfully there won't be anyone who would want to/expect to stay with us.
My grandma might come out a month or so after she's born, but she would stay with my aunt and just hang with us during the day.
I'm going this route but I might lie to my MIL about the tighter flu restrictions...I just dont want to hear her mouth in the first few days after birth...
