I have a friend who's daughter is about 5 months pregnant and just found out she has the swine flu. Her doc advised her to take Tamiflu, but is there anything else that can help her and/or she needs to know? TIA for all your help ...

I hear Tamiflu is what they are advising for
everyone. I think I better stock up, just in case. I hope
she feels better soon!
As far as stocking up
on Tamiflu--my DD rode in a car for over an hour on a preschool field
trip with a little girl who just a couple days later came down with
H1N1 (officially diagnosed). The day after learning about this, I
called my OB to request a prescription for Tamilfu "to have on hand"
for when my daughter comes down with H1N1, as I fully expected. I
wouldn't take it until she started showing symptoms, but I just wanted
to have it to take immediately when sypmtoms show. Doc said no, they
don't prescribe if until someone in the house is sick so I couldn't
just have it on hand--how ridiculous is that? So,if I were you, I would
tell your doc that hubby or someone else in the house is showing
symptoms and you need the script called in immediately. BTW, DD hasn't
shown any symptoms yet and the field trip was 2 weeks ago--maybe we
dodged a bullet...
I had the flu several weeks ago, and Tamiflu made a HUGE difference! I felt better within a few days, rather than 5-10 (depending on how sick you get).
Other than that: rest, fluids, Tylenol. The usual for the flu, whether one is pregnant or not. I tried to ramp up my fluids, and the Tylenol helped keep me from being to achy to walk to the bathroom 1800 times a day! Hope she feels better soon.
Re: Swine flu and pregnancy ....
My son had it 2 weeks ago. Other than Tamiflu, rest, lots of liquids and TLC was what helped me get better.
