I can tend to be a bit of a hypochondriac, so I am trying really hard not to freak out at every little thing thorughout this pregnancy. I've been doing well so far, but today my back hurts sooooo bad. It is a really achy feeling kind of centralized to the middle around my spine. It is pretty constant and I can't seem to make it feel better with changing positions or stretching. It started out like this when I got up, but has been getting progressively worse. I did a lot of folding and putting away laundry yesterday, plus some sweeping and dusting. Did I just overdo it? Does this sound like normal aches and pains to you or is it something worth calling the doctor over?
Re: Back pain - what's beyond the threshold of "normal" ???
Back pain is totally normal. Do you have a heating pad?
I've been going to physical therapy for lower back pain for a few months now. Never had backpain until I got pg.
Doctors typically want to hear from you when the pain can't be managed by appropriate medication and interferes with your activities of daily life.
If you do the things you can do, such as taking tylenol, using a heating pad, resting a bit, getting your H to rub your back, and none of it helps, I'd call your doc.
I think back pain is totally normal, but at 24 weeks to have it that bad...I'm wondering if possible the back pain could be attributed to something else? I'd call you doctor. It could be a kidney infection. Also, are you tilting your hips forward when you walk (most pregnant women do!)? Try to tell yourself to have good posture and see if that helps.
You have a long way to go....I would definitely call your doctor to find the route of the problem if you can!
