Were any of you cleared to ttc again before you got your first AF? Thanks girls! I was just cleared to ttc again as soon as my levels get to zero (which I am having drawn every week)...

I had never heard anyone getting cleared that soon after a D&C and was wondering if I was the only one... Thanks!

I was told to wait two cycles at least, three would be better. We did wait the three.

I had to wait for my first AF, but that was it. Of course, I got pg with my second prior to first AF and I really did think I needed to let my body recover.

My doctor just said to wait I think it was two weeks to heal and not risk infection. Honestly, we should've waited that long but we were at it again in a week. I know that is wrong... I thought that was a quick clearance as well. Just make sure you're emotionally ready as well as physically....that is very important! Good luck, hun!

We were told we could TTC after one full cycle, which we stuck to. We got pg on the 3rd cycle of actively TTC.

I was told to wait 2-3 cycles before TTC again. We did not use protection after my first AF after the D&C, but we also didn't chart and push forward. After my second cycle, we went all in.

I was told that until my levels were down to 0, I wouldn't ovulate anyways, so we could start whenever we wanted, but nothing would happen before my body was ready to O. I was told it's nice to wait for one cycle for dating purposes, but that they didn't have any medical reason for me to wait till after the first AF.

Were told to wait at least 1-2 cycles, but we started TTC after 1 cycle. We ended getting pg on cycle 3, but it took my body a while to get back to a regular cycle and for my hcg to get down to 0. I think it was 5 weeks post D&C before I got my first AF. That was a very stressful time for me.

I was told different things by 3 different people. My MW said we could TTC again after the f/u appt. The GYN who did the D&C said to wait 3 months. A genetic counselor we spoke to later said to wait 3 cycles. Because it took us 8 cycles to get pg with him, we decided to start TTC right away. AF returned on CD50, and we were pg the next cycle with our son, almost 3 months later due to the long cycles. Good luck cowgirl! If you were cleared to TTC and feel ready, I would say go for it!!

Before my first D&C, I asked the doctor how soon we could try again, and she said after one period. After my second D&C, I saw a different doctor in the same practice and she said we could try again soon, then clarified: after one AF, if that's normal, then go ahead and wait for ANOTHER af, and if THAT'S normal, we could go ahead and try again.

I didn't listen to her advice and we tried immediately after the D&C, and ended up not conceiving until the third cycle afterward anyway. I suspect the second doctor told me to wait so long because I was so emotional at my D&C follow-up appt.

We were told that we could after one cycle, but she recommends most wait two cycles. We only waited one, I was worried it was going to take us awhile to get pg again. Luckily for us it happened after that first cycle.

My doc said that it can take up to 3 cycles for the interior lining of the ute to completely regenerate strong enough to hold the placenta tight again...that and risk of infection is why they say to wait.

We waited 3 cycles (and were planning to wait longer) but Little stuff had other plans!

My Dr said to wait 3 normal cycles, but we got surprised during the second. She was not at all concerned, she said the 3 months is more for emotional than physical healing.

Hey girlie...

I was told to wait one cycle before TTC again after my D&C, but that being said, I never had b/w to find out when my levels returned to normal.

FWIW: My AF after my D&C was soooooo light that I don't think I would have had a thinck enough lining to get pregnant even if we tried.

I was told to wait one full cycle. We got pregnant after the 2nd cycle. The only reason why my doctor didn't want us to try before AF was risk of infection.

I was cleared to try again right after my 1st D&C, but told to wait once cycle after my second. Not that it mattered either way, I didn't ovulate on my own.

I said YES because my OB said that he would like for us to wait for 1 AF, but would not care if I did not get one and came back pregnant.

My RE said that there are a few reasons why they like to wait 2 cycles:

1. A D&C is invasive so you need time for your ute to grow

2. depending on how far along you were, your body needs to go back to normal

3. mental reasons

And some others I don't remember now.

I know we all get eager to ttc asap, but you should wait at least 1 af IMO.

My doctor suspected that it could be a molar pregnancy, so we weren't given the all clear until the cytogenic testing came back clear. It took quite a while to get this, so probably 2 months after AF post-D&C.
