Those who have had the flu shot

I've heard a number of people say that their arm was really sore afterwards. Can you please tell me how long your arm was sore for. Thanks!

Re: Those who have had the flu shot

  • Mine was sore for a few days and it always felt worse at night. I remember turning over in my sleep and being woken up from the pain I had in that arm.

  • It typically just lasts about 24 hours or less.  The H1N1 shot did not make my arm painful at all though.

  • It really depends on the person. I didn't have any pain at all, but my husband still felt his two weeks later.
  • It was only sore for about 36 hours. But it was definitely really sore. I must block that out every year. I never remember that its going to make my arm sore. haha.
  • I wouldn't say it was "really" sore.  It was just sore for about a day.  I think it's just because where they give the shot is a spot with lots of muscle. Nothing that the average person can't easily handle.
  • I have had both shots, and I really didn't have much soreness at all after either shot.  Maybe a little tenderness for about an hour.
  • Mine was sore for about 3 days. It was unbelievable how much it ached.

  • My arm was sore for about two or three days. I felt like someone had punched me. No biggie. I had the same pain two years ago when I had the flu shot. I had the mist last year.

  • Mine was a little sore the next day, but nothing major.
  • Mine was sore for three or four days - really sore like someone socked me. The hi n1 shot only made my arm hurt for one day. Good luck!
  • I get the flu shot every year.  It's just a tad sore like the next day.  Nothing to worry about at all.
  • Your arm may feel sore at or around the shot location if you tense when the shot is delivered. If you stay relaxed you should not have soreness after the shot.

    This.

  • The pain feels like I got punched in the arm and lasted about 2 days.  I always get it in my left arm (the one I use the least) because of this.

  • Mine didn't get sore at all.  The trick is to not tense up when they are injecting you.
  • Mine was sore until the nest day but, only at the injection site.

  • Mine really wasn't sore at all, but you have to take measures to prevent the soreness: After you get the shot, move/twist/swing your arm around and massage the area and muscles around it.  Do this a little bit several times a day.  This helps the vaccine go through and also helps to prevent soreness.
  • My arm was only sore for the day I got the shot and a little bit the next day. It is not bad at all.

  • I had no pain, but I just made sure that I stayed relaxed as I got the shot.
