How much did LO weigh at one month or two months if available?
DS was 8lb 8oz at birth, 10lb 14oz at one month and at his 2 mo appt today he is 14lb 1oz. I sorta had the weight 'talk' with him but I feed him when he is hungry or gnawing on his hands! He eats between 3-4oz every 2 hours or so..pedi says this is too much and has me starting cereal today. Anybody else on the same boat?
He was also 20 1/2 inches at birth and is currently 23 3/4 at 2 months which is the 80th percentile.
Re: Over 8lb at birth..
DD was 9lb 7 oz 22 inches at birth, 12 lb 5 oz 24 inches at her 1 month, and 14 lb 10 oz 25 inches at her 2 month. The doctor said she is the average weight and length of a 4 month old and her weight is in proportion to length. The pedi also had me start rice cereal at 2 months because DD was eating 8 oz every 3 hours and was still not satisfied. It helped alot! I eased her into though because it was a little hard on her belly at first but she's definitely a lot happier now.
ETA: I'm mixing it in her formula right now, not giving it to her straight.
My dd was
8lbs 4 ounces at birth 21 3/4 inches
8lbs 2 ounces at six days
10lbs 12 ounces at one month
12 pounds 24.5 inches at two months
She eats 28-32 ounces a day. My family is very tall (my sister is 6 foot 1) so I guess LO will be tall too. She is 80 percentile for weight and 95th for length.
How did you introduce the rice? Pedi says spoon followed by a bottle. Should I be giving a full bottle or the amount that was left from what is mixed by spoon? If you are just mixing in the bottle, how much did you used per oz? Thank you! I would call the pedi but she is not on my good side today!
is your LO breastfed or formula fed? I'm sorta surprised you got talked to....now I'm scared for the 2 month apt lol- my son was 9 pounds 8 ounces at birth so I'm sure he'll be at least 14 pounds now. But he's been in the 90-95th percentile for height and weight so he is proportionate.... he's just a big boy! I am not really worried though because my pedi is very cool and I don't think he'd be like that.
What's the reasoning for starting cereal? I guess I feel that if you feed them when hungry they will grow how they need to grow. I feed my son on demand and he's a happy (most of time lol) healthy boy!

The pedi told me to mix 1 Tbsp for every 2 oz of formula in her bottle. I started giving it to her in her afternoon bottles so if it upset her stomach, it wouldn't effect her sleep so much. Then when I started giving it to her more, I gave her mylicon drops with it. It took her about a week to get used to it but now she' doesn't have any gas problems at all.
The pedi also told me to swith to oatmeal if the rice makes her constipated but she hasn't a problem with that.
LO is FF now, since 5 weeks old. He is also height and weight proportionate, 80th for height and 90th for weight. She has me starting cereal because he is over 13lb. He is just growing so quick! I didn't think we would be doing cereal till at least 3mos.
birth: 8lb3oz, 21 inches
1 mo: 11lb, 21.5 inches
2 mo: 13lb4oz, 24 inches
My pedi didn't say anything about weight; in fact, the nurse said she had great BF cheeks - chubby! The pedi mentioned starting cereal if we felt ready, but we are going to wait. I feed LO when she's hungry - crying, rooting, gnawing on hands.
Birth: 8lb 3oz and 21 1/2" long
2 months: 12lb 10oz, 25" long (75th percentile for weight; 98th for height)
He is BF, except one 4oz formula bottle at night
8 lb 5 oz at birth
11 lb 14 oz at 2 months
birth - 8.10
1 month - 10.7
Just curious- I thought (except for reflux) cereal shouldn't be started till 4-6 months because they aren't developmentally ready? I thought it was based on baby's age, not weight? I wonder if my pedi will talk to me about this at our apt Friday....

DD was 9lb 2oz and 20.5 inches at birth and is now 14lb 7oz and 23.5 inches at 2 months. Pedi said that even though she's off the chart for weight that she's a healthy baby who is gaining weight nicely. My dad keeps asking me if she's going to get too fat (yes, he's annoying to say the least) so I asked pedi just so I would have a response for my dad. Pedi said that she is just fine and when she starts moving around crawling etc. around 10-11 months, she'll lose the weight very quickly. She's EBF and eats approx 4 oz every 3 hours or less.
I'd be concerned about starting cereal just to try and decrease feedings. If your baby is happy and healthy, don't worry about how much he weighs. Trust your mom instincts.
My DS is a big boy! He was:
8lbs 15oz at birth
13lbs 12oz at 1 month
15lbs 10oz at 2 months
He is above the 95th percentile for weight. He is BF so I couldn't tell you how much he actually eats but he eats about every 3 hours. He gets one 3oz bottle of EBM while I am at work. Our dr said nothing to me about his weight because he is growing along his curve. No talk of cereal and I wouldn't give it to him if she did mention it. DH was a big baby and is now 6'3" and I am 5'9" and I was also over 9lbs at birth.
Thanks, I do think that I will put off the cereal. He is a happy baby and have read that cereal is way to early for him because his digestive track isn't ready for solids. Going to see how the next few days goes giving him 3oz instead of 4..
Birth:
8 lbs 3.5 oz and 20 in long
2 months:
11lbs 12 oz 75 percentile
24 in long 95 percentile
My DD was 8lb 9 oz, 20 1/2 in, and born at 36w 2d. Can't imagine if I went full term. She lost a whole lb in her first few days. That, along with her jaundice, made us start supplementing with formula. She quickly stopped latching, so now she's exclusively formula fed. We weighed her last week (at 2 weeks), and she was just about at her birth weight again. She's eating 3 to 4 oz every 3-4 hours, and will go 5-6 hours at night.
I'm curious about what her stats will be at her 1 month appt next week!
