So my mom and I were talking this weekend and she mentioned she was thinking of having the baby shower at my house. (we entertain alot and are used to having crowds over). Eventhough I know she wants to have it catered, will probably send a cleaning lady over before and after the shower and probably won't let me do a thing--I guess I was hoping for something else.
She is unemployed at the moment so the fact that she is even considering paying for a caterer is very generous of her.
I guess I am sort of disappointed. Maybe because I want it to be a surprise and if its at my house- how can that happen?? Kind of a mini-vent.
Re: Baby shower-at my house??
Think of it this way, you will not have to lug all of the gifts back to your house, they will already be there. And if she is having someone clean your house before and after, even better!
Maybe you can go out shopping for a few hours before the shower, while your mom gets set up.
Never thought of leaving the house prior! Good idea Blondey! Thanks.
This ... I don't think it's a big deal ... I think it's great that she's wanting to throw the shower for you ... doesn't matter where it is ...
Honestly, if someone is throwing you a shower, just be gracious and go with what works for the host. Two friends are co-hosting my shower and I am thinking of offering my house. One is due two weeks after my shower date and the other just learned she will be moving (and have her house on the market on the date of my shower). I'm just thrilled that they are throwing me a shower. If it makes life easier on them, I'm going to let them know they can have the shower at my house to avoid any stress on them.
Dh might be displaced since my shower is on a Sunday and he'll have to find somewhere else to watch football. But other than this, I don't see any problems.
My husband's aunt had twins 6 years ago and her shower was at her house. She was so thankful that it was because she was more comfortable and she didnt have to lug all the gifts home afterward. She knew when and where, but did not know who. She went out for a few hours before the shower while it was set up and everyone arrived, then she came home.
I suggested this option to my sister and mom for mine, but I'm moving to our new home too close to the shower to be possible. I would go with it and be really happy about it.
Ditto. Be grateful that she is willing to throw you a shower, especially given her unemployeed status. Plus you don't have to do any of the work.
