lots of people do, my friend just had some done and is in LOVE with them. LOL! I just don't agree. ahahhaha. Not that your babies aren't cute, its just the way the pics look thats all.
I completely agree - I prefer the regular ultrasounds.
It took 3 1/2 long years, but we finally got our little miracle!
IVF #1 - BFP (6dt)
Unassisted Pregnancy #2 - lost at 15w6d due to T21, severe heart defects, and fetal hydrops
I always thought all ultrasound pictures were kind of boring/weird--never really saw the appeal--until it was MY baby on the screen. Then they became the coolest things ever .
I think they're cool and we had one done at 16 weeks, 6 days to find out the sex. However, I wouldn't want to get one done later in the pregnancy because I don't want to see exactly what my baby is going to look like until she's born. My sister had it done with my niece late in her pregnancy and we all knew ahead of time what she was going to look like. It's cool, but I personally wouldn't want to know that.
I personally think they are creepy. Especially the ones my doc. did at 19w. There just isn't any fat. But I still had her print out the pictures Although it is a tad bit creepy, I find it amusing at the same time.
I loved having it done, and knew going into it our baby could possibly look a little scary and alien like. I love having the DVD video to go back and replay... It's amazing to watch her move around, facial expressions, sucking her thumb, etc. I am sure no one else thinks she looks cute, but whateves. I think if you are freaked out by it, don't have it done... however we thought she was adorable regardless and plan to go back at 24 weeks for another! See PIP...
Chemical Pregnancy 5.2011. BFP 9.2011 MC @ 8.5w D&C 11.4.2011 sweet pea is always in our hearts.
BFP 3.23.2012! Our baby turkey is due 11.22.2012!
The only ones I've seen are the 3D ultrasounds that are done around the middle of the pregnancy. The baby isn't fully formed yet, just looks like a little skeleton. I'm sure it's exciting if it's your baby, but I think they would look better if people would have them done later.
We're not having them done. It would cost us $300 out of pocket, and it's just not worth it.

I actually think the 2-D black & white ones sometimes look creepy. At our 21 week u/s the pictures we have look spooky. Our baby looks like it has a Halloween skull mask on lol. I want to get the 3-D pics so our baby will look more like a baby.
I think if you get them done too early, they look just as creepy (and sometimes creepier) than the 2D pics - but I've seen some that look amazingly cute. To each their own.
They used to creep me out A LOT back in the day, but I feel like I've seen so many of them in the almost 3 years I've been hanging around the baby boards, I've started to really appreciate them and think they are pretty cool to see what's going on in there.
i think that they are amazing...(clearly im sure my post started this) and i was in tears over his little face yesterday and fell in love with my husbands face wathcing the screen. My Bestie thinks they are creepy and hates them (she just had a baby 3 months ago) but again its all a matter of opinion.
I loved having them done. My lil one looked like skeletor or even Jack Skeleton, but the moment we had with him I would never take back. I could watch the DVD over and over again. I think this is an each her own topic.
i just think it depends on whos your lookin at some are cute and some just are plain creepy i def think the regular anatomy does the job... and also leaves more of a surprise element later... ive decided to do without the 4d but my doc does give you the 3d view during the regular ultrasound...
I loved mine!!! She was so skinny at 18 weeks, I thought about sending her down the runway, but having my mom and the ILs there with DH and I to see her (and find out it WAS a her) was really magical. You just don't get the same effect with the 2d. We are doing it again at 30 weeks, when she has chubbed up a bit. And I can't wait!
I think it depends on when you have them done. I've seen some of these pics here on the bump that were done 16-20 weeks and they are CREEPY!! Our doc makes you wait until after 28 weeks for the 3-D when the baby actually is looking like a baby so not as creepy!
I'm a bit torn. I think they can be pretty wacked, but I had an awesome tech at my NT Scan who did a set in color and at a good angle where the 3D didn't look as weird - those looked cool. But the tech I had for my 20 week really blew. But she did great 2D shots.
TTC since 2005.
DS via IVF - 02/10
Baby #2 - due 10/16/11
I think they're neat, technology-wise, but since we already know what we're having, what he looks like is the only surprise we have for the delivery room.
They're creepy. actually, when we went fri for our 'big' u/s, the sonogram person turned on teh 3-d image for one second, but then immediately turned it off when she saw it looked sorta weird. she said they're not so great unless the baby is in an ideal position. Was hilarious though, b/c both my DH and I went "Whoa!" in a sorta freaked out tone when she did it. hahahaha
Re: Am I the only one who doesn't like the 3D pics?
I think they look a little creepy, so we are not having them done, but as you said - it's just my opinion...
