  Maybe it is because it would be easier for a baby to be in that type of environment three days in a row, so that way they get used to it and remember it.

  I used to work in a daycare and for children who got upset at being away from Mom & Dad, it was much harder on them if they came alternate days. They settled in much quicker when they came three days in a row, even better when they just came full time (though obviously, that depends on the parents' situations).
