Talk to me about sitting up... XP from 3-6

Whenever DS is lying on his back, he tries to sit up - he literally looks like he's doing a sit-up, without his knees bent.  He gets about halfway up, then tries to push up the rest of the way with his elbows.  I've never seen a LO try to sit up that way, is that the way they usually do it?  I figured he would turn onto his side and push up that way.

    he will probably sit up assisted before he's able to sit up on his own.  L has been trying to sit up by herself for months now and just recently mastered it.

    DD used to do this all the time!  We would laugh and say she was doing her pilates.  DD didn't learn how to get into the sitting position on her own until about 9 months.  She started sitting up (if you put her in that position) around 6 months and then crawling at 7 months.  She goes from the crawling position to trasferring herself on her butt to sit up will not sit up from the laying position.

    it seems like dd has been trying to do that since the day we brought her home.  seriously, she was doing that very early on and is still doing it.  she still can't figure out that she needs to turn to the side in order to sit up.  she is starting to learn slowly but surely, but she s till tries to sit up that way.  i don't think it is possible, unless they have abs of steel. lol

    dd does this and it makes me laugh. she grunts and everything and gets half way there adn gives up (she doesnt think to push up with her elbows and less etc) her pedi saw her doing it at her last appt and laughed. DD doesnt give up!

    DS does this too....but yes, to get to sitting position on his own he will go to one side and push himself up. Not sure what the super-yoga move is all about.
