Do you have to lose your mucus plug first?

I know your water won't necessarily break before you go into active labor but what about your mucus plug?

Also, did you notice the day you went into active labor that your baby was moving around less frequently?

No it does not have to come out first. My baby seemed to be just as active

Mine did but a lot of women lose them in labor.

My mucus plug came out the day before I went into labor, and since I was way overdue...when I saw the dr. that day I did tell her that I felt the baby was moving a little less. My water broke the next morning and I started having contractions every seven mins. right away.
