Reason #1 that I'll never get married again

if I ever get divorced.

I'd have to go through all of the horridness that is planning a wedding and then have one again!

I have never seen two people look so stressed as the bride and groom at last night's rehearsal dinner.  I wanted to give the bride a great big hug and tell her to take a deep breath, but I think I would have shattered her into a million little pieces if I had.

The wedding later today should be interesting.

Re: Reason #1 that I'll never get married again

  • I'm the complete opposite. I keep telling DH that we need to get married at least ten more times in order to satisfy all my dream weddings. I looooooove wedding planning.

  • I never got stressed about the wedding. I was super lucky.  I had a blast at the rehearsal dinner and it was perfect. So was the wedding. mostly because we just laughed a lot and whatever went wrong was just, not important.

I also think second and third weddings are generally less insane than the first. Or at least, if the bride is less insane, they seem to be.

  • If I could do it all over again we'd grab our best friends and head to Fiji to get hitched on the beach.
  • LOL. Wedding stress sux, be sure to report back. Is the weather nice at least?

My #1 reason is that I'm too lazy to 'train' another husband. I had DH right where I wanted him, dirty clothes in the hamper, dirty dishes in the dishwasher but then he got deployed. I'm going to have to do some remedial work with him when he gets back.

Weather is nice so far, but they're predicting severe storms for late afternoon/early evening.  The wedding doesn't start until 5, so hopefully they hold off until the bride is in the church...

  • I loved my wedding - every minute of planning and prep work.  My mom and I got along great and DH and I agreed on all the important things and anything not terribly important (flowers, invitations), he couldn't have cared less about.  Our rehearsal dinner was fun and I was so relaxed the day of.  My hairdresser was even like "You are the most relaxed bride I've ever seen!".  We had a wonderful time at the reception and I was sad when it was over.

I want to do it again.

  • BTW, love your son's name.  We are expecting boy #2 and are naming him Conrad (happens to be my maiden name!).

  • I never understood getting sucked into the wedding stress ordeal. We basically just planned a great party for ourselves and had a blast. No one stressed out. Things went wrong here and there but in the end we were just having a great party. I think it rubbed off well on the guests too. Everyone was telling us what a great time they had. Even one of my aunt/uncles who typically just show up to make an appearance stayed all night with us.

  • Have a great time!

  • Dh and I joke that we can't get divorced because neither one of us wants to go through wedding planning again. It was stressful mostly because of certain relatives.

BTW, I love your siggy pic! He is so adorable is his firetruck pjs!

I agree 100%. I wanted to elope and DH wanted the "huge party". He now says we should've eloped. It is one day and a huge waste of money. I think about what I could've done with that $10K often. We were already going to Hawaii so we should've just been married on the beach in Kauai!!!

See this is me!!!  DH and I went to the court house a year to the day before our wedding and got married, then a year later had our wedding.  I told him that we should keep up the tradition and just keep getting married every year like Heidi Klume and Seal, but he won't have it.

    Lame I say.  Lame.
