If you really need to go to your due date...

are you abstaining?

DH and I are in the middle of remodeling a new restaurant location and moving our restaurant. I know - good timing. I am due the 13th. The restaurant will be moved and open as of the 9th.

We really need baby to hang out and wait.

This is making us nervous about fooling around. I know there are things we can do but still....

Just curious what others are doing. 

What I really don't like about doing this besides the lack of intimacy on that level is the idea of how long we are going to have to abstain if I have a normal vaginal delivery. This could be a long dry spell...

    DH and I do it fairly often and I still went over due.

    I wouldn't be too worried about it.  I don't think it's worth giving up those precious moments of alone time you have left.

    My doctor told me that the sperm only starts labor if your body is ready.. therefore, if your body is ready it is probably going to go into labor anyways!! Yah, people go into labor after having sex but IMO its just coincidence.  But if your worried about it then just mess around without having sex or don't let him go inside you.

    and just to add- from what I read the reason they say this can cause labor is because the sperm helps soften the cervix (or something like that) not the actual sex that causes it.  So you can always just use condoms or pull out or something if you're that worried about it.

    This never crossed my mind.  I guess we're more into trying to have sex that isn't so stinkin akward.  6 weeks is a long time not to be with each other, IMO.

    Yeah I'm having problems getting DH into the sack at all! He's too worried about hurting the baby to even want to do it. I told him that when I get into like week 36 its his job, and that he has to! I still doubt he'll want to "risk it" :-p

    My OB's nurse even said the little tid bit about the prostoglandin that the men "posses" to my DH at our appointment yesterday but he's too freaked out to do it! BAH!

    I'm hoping this baby is either 10 days early or 3 days late because of DH's work schedule. He cannot get Christmas week off. So we'll either abstain or do it like crazy Wink
