Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Feel guilty as hell...

I was planning on taking DD to a neighboring county for a H1N1 clinic tomorrow (for kids 3 & under and pregnant women). But they anticipate huge lines starting hours before 9am, it's supposed to be cool & drizzling outside. DD already has thick snot coming out of her nose :( Not to mention the logistics of handling an active toddler in a slow, long line.

So I think we're going to skip it and hope that my OWN county plans a clinic soon.

I will feel like the worst mom if she catches it though Crying

  • If I was in your situation there would be no way I would be taking my kid in.

  • What county? Fairfax?

Yeah Fairfax at the Government Center by Fair Oaks. AND they are restricting parking around the building... WTF? So in other words, it sounds like you will either have a hell of a walk or have to take a shuttle bus.

  • DD would probably get sicker waiting in line...

  • I'm right there with you.  I'm hoping the pediatrician's office will get it in soon or they do clinics here in Loudoun.

  • I would wait too.  Keep in mind it take 2 weeks for the vaccine to take full effect and work.

DD and I were exposed to a baby who tested positive for influenza type A, both Wed. and yesterday.  I called my ped office (which is an f'in war zone from what I hear) and they said to keep an eye on her (duh) and that if she got a fever they would call in a tamiflu script, and we wouldn't even have to come in, it's that bad.

  • Emerson was diagnosed with it today and when our pedi told me I was so upset.  We got it early enough to get the tamiflu.

I feel okay about it at the moment because she's still playing and generally in good spirits but, know I have to really keep an eye on her.

It's frustrating.  I would have been the first in that line.  Now I have to remind myself that she is building immunities and everything is going to be just fine.

  • OU, if it makes you feel any better, several of my locals and their LOs have had it and it was pretty minor. Hugs, though. I'd still lose my sh*t.
