We are going on a 4 day trip with another couple/friends of ours who don't have kids. Maddy will be almost 2 months old. Our friends are really good with kids and have young neices and nephews, and they love Maddy; so I'm not worried about us all having a good time.
I don't NIP, nor do I plan to,but we will be going on some outings, and DD will most definitly need to eat during these. I also don't care much for feeding in front of my friends very much. I will do it in front of my girlfriend (covered up), but I don't like to nurse in front of my friends very often-- especially male friends. Judge me if you want, but its my own personal decision and comfort level.
My plan is to bring a bottle of expressed BM with us on outings if she gets hungry, and then pump later when I can get privacy. BUT--- I am nervous about bottle feeding very much. Right now I give her a bottle about once every other day, and she seems to do fine with that and BFing. By 2 months old, do you think there is still any risk of nipple confusion? Also, does anyone have any tips for this situation?
Re: Taking DD with us on a couples trip next month...
My lactation consultant said that risk of nipple confusion should be over by the tie BFing is well established, around 6 weeks.
I was worried about the same thing when I wnet back to work when DS was 6 weeks. Before then, he had just had one bottle every day or every other day. Now that I'm working again, DS takes 4 bottles every day, and he does fine. I BF him on demand when I am home and all weekend long.
I think you will be fine because your LO will be almost 2 months, and plus I'm assuming you'll continue to BF when you are back in your hotel room and at night? Good luck!
