i absolutely hate these!! my gut says i'm not in labor, but these are really painful! i hate to waste the trip to L&D for no reason, esp. since i'm on 35 weeks....
i've been having them since 530, but nothing consistent. what would you do?
I don't think BH are supposed to be painful. I get them all the time. I'd say if you have more than 5 in an hour and they become more painful definitely call.

I dont know if this helps, but when I asked my OB when I should go to the hospital and call them.. she said..
Dont go by the 5 minute apart rule- cause you may be that girl who goes from 10 minutes apart to 3 minutes apart.. go when they are making you almost cry and are timeable.
So far I have had contractions almost every night for 2 weeks- they have lasted HOURS but they don't ever get increasingly worse so I don't call..
Good Luck!

I would call if it's been a whole day thing. At 38 weeks, I've only had them on and off for a few hours at a time...never had a whole day of them. But then again, every woman is different. I always think it's safer to call and double check that it's normal.
I've been having tons of BH lately! Dr told me they can be painful but I haven't had too many that are! If they aren't consistent I wouldn't worry! Just time them to make sure and give your Dr a call if you're still worried! You can never be too safe!
I have heard if you have more than 4 in an hour, to call. I feel like I am constantly having BH contractions. When I feel like I've been having a lot, I try getting up and walking around, drinking a lot of water, and they usually calm down. I have found that I'm really sensitive to being dehydrated. So, if I have a cup of coffee or something else with even a little caffeine during the day and not enough water to balance it out, I'll get a lot of BH at night. I pay attention though. So long as they don't get too intense, I don't worry about them so much. Especially being beyond 35 weeks. If I had a lot of them and they didn't slow down or stop completely by changing what I was doing (which happened once), I would call the doctor.
I've had quite a few sporadically throughout the day...but never timeable. Mine don't hurt me, it's just a tight, hard tummy...maybe a bit uncomfortable when I'm sitting or eating.
Still, they haven't bothered me enough to even make me think I should call or be concerned. My midwife hasn't said anything about if I have so many in an hour to call, etc.
I guess it depends. Maybe if there was pain with them I would be more worried.
I get a bunch too. They are really sporadic though, like one hour I'll have a bunch non stop and the next, I won't have any. Lately I've been having really painful cramps and was getting a little worried, it was hurting into my leg, but everytime I call the doctor they just tell me to drink more water. I figure they aren't consistent or worsening and ususally end up going away.
Re: anyone else with tons of BH?
I have not had one damn contraction since I been pregnant...lol
...on another note, if they are getting intense as time goes on I would call.

i'm going to drink some water and see if that helps. i just wish i didn't have to think about it.
you'd think i'd know for sure after having 3 kids! lol! i know when i went into real labour with number 2 it was unmistakeable, that's for sure!
but it doesn't always start like that and everyone is different i suppose.
and this sounds stupid, but i hate to call the sitter here for nothing! lol!
