My sister told me that her doctor suggested that she squirt some of her breast milk up my sick nephew's nose and on his eye (he had pink eye) and that this would help more than anything he could prescribe for her.
Apparently she did it, several times a day and his runny nose cleared up substantially and his pink eye went away. I was shocked. Anyone ever heard of using breast milk as a healing agent?
Re: Speaking of breast milk...has anyone ever heard this?
OK, so I just got this mental image of a lady walking up to a toddler/preschooler and trying to squirt breast milk up his nose....directly from the breast.
Cracked me up. People around here think I'm nuts, lol
I didn't know it was a healing agent, though. That's crazy! it's amazing what our bodies can do!
i think EFF touts it as a wonder drug and amazing all purpose cleaner too, right?
I guess my sister is just lazy. She didn't take the time to get a dropper
.
Haha! My hand-eye coordination isn't the greatest, and I didn't think DS wanted a milk bath
I have also heard that it is great for ear infections.
Yep, sure have! BM has antibacterial properties, so it makes sense in a lot of situations. DD had a rash on her face one day, I remembered the eye thing, and rubbed it on, and it was gone w/in an hour.

It's not a medical journal, but hey, it's free, it's natural... can't hurt anything, right?
