Our furniture is a dark cherry, almost espresso depending on the lighting. I'd really like to do two paint colors in the room: a light pink on the bottom and a light green on the top. But I'm not sure about a chair rail. Should it match the furniture? I can't picture a dark wood chair rail. I've only ever seen white chair rails in nurseries. The base boards are white and the bedding has white in it too. What do you think? Go with a white chair rail or match the furniture? Any other ideas for splitting the top and bottom colors? (btw, I'm not a fan of the wall paper border.) TIA
Re: Dark Furniture and Chair Rail?
Our room is green on top, chocolate brown on bottom, with a white chair rail which matches all the trim in the room. Our furniture is VERY dark cherry. What color is the trim in your room? I would match the trim. I LOVE how the white looks with the dark furniture in our room. I'll see if I can find a pic.
Our nursery is being painted right now - the top part is beige and the bottom, under the chair rail is being painted sage green. The chair rail will be white, to match the trim of the room. Our funiture is hazlenut - like a medium wood color.
Our chair rail matches the bottom paint color....
Here is ours - Greenish on bottom, blue on top, white chair ral/trim, espresso furniture:
