I went to my first doctors appointment yesterday and my doctor says she really recommends I get vaccinated and to be honest I have never had a flu shot before, and really don't take any medications at all, so I nervous about the side affects. Maybe if anyone has had regular flu shots and haven't had any problems it could relieve some of my stress. I have Crohns disease and felt like a guinea pig most my young life and just don't want to go thru that again. I have been healthy now for about 6 years and am so excited to be pregnant, I am just really nervous!! Thank you- nervous Momma
Re: H1N1 Vaccine- has anyone had a flu shot while pregnant before??

i got the regular flu while pregnant with DS, however, i was 7 months pg. i had ZERO complications.
i did, reluctantly, get one today and i feel weird about it. my arm hurts like a MOTHER and i feel woozy.
i don't want to, but will get teh H1N1. i was compeltely opposed to it, but it's rampant in my commuity right now.
I get the flu shot every single year and have never had so much as a sore arm from the injection site.
I got the TRUE flu once about 15 years ago and it was horrible. I was literally out of work for 3 solid weeks and it was months before I felt completely recovered.
Get the shot, and stop worrying.
I just got my regular flu shot last weekend and when my doctor gets in the H1N1, I am getting that too.
Yes, ladies, talk her into it.
mwahahahahaha!
H1N1 is made in the exact same way that the regular flu shot is, so if you are ok with the regular one it makes no sense why you would be anti H1N1. 1 in 3 pregnant women who have been hospitalized for H1N1 have DIED. Why risk it?
That siggy pic is the funniest thing I've seen in awhile.
I got my seasonal flu shot a few days before I found out I was PG. I will be getting the H1N1 vax as soon as it becomes available to me. The theoretical risks to me/baby of the flu shot pale in comparison to the risk to me and my baby should I contract the actual flu. Pregnant women are dying of H1N1 at a rate that is disproportionate to other members of the population. It's a fact.
Although I don't agree with it, I can see someone not choosing to get either one. However, why would you be okay with the regular flu shot but not the H1N1? And don't say it's because the H1N1 is "new", the flu shot is always new, every year. There is nothing special about the swine flu vax, it is simply a vax for a specific strain of flu, the same as the seasonal flu shot.
