Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

I feel so sorry for the man my daughter is going to marry.

We got home from work the other night and there was a little boy standing in our driveway (same class as my daughter's).  He was just standing there, smiling away, not doing anything...but standing.

We got out of the car and I asked if he was there to see Maddy, and he said yes.  I said I'd go in and get her (my MIL watches the kids at our house) and he said that Maddy told him to wait outside for him.  I said okay, and went in.

I go into the house and my kid is just wandering around, picking things up, getting ready to eat dinner.  I asked her if she knew the boy was outside and she said yeah. My MIL looked shocked and said, "Do you mean Johnny?  Classmate from up the street?  He came to the door 45 minutes ago!"  I asked Maddy what was going on and she said that she told him to wait outside for her and she'd come out when she was done eating dinner...which was still a good 30 minutes away!

I told her to send the poor kid home and she could call him when she was done.  She went to the front door, opened it up just enough to poke her head out and screamed, "JOHNNY!  MY MOM SAID TO GO HOME!!!" and she slammed the door.

And he did go home, smiling the whole way.

Sigh.  My daughter is already bossing boys around.

(btw, the neighborhood kids all ride bikes, play ball, etc. outside lol)
