We just found out today that my husband got a transfer to Ohio from Los Angeles and we need to be there in 30 days after he resigns from his current position today. Los Angeles to Ohio is atleast a three day if not four day drive. However, I'm terrified to take our LO on a plane. He will be receiving Synagis on Nov 1 but there is still the Swine Flu, Reg FLu, etc. However, driving is scary too because what if something happens and we're in the middle of nowhere, plus with feedings and changing him it will probably take us more like 5 days and my husband has to start as soon as possible. What would you do?
Re: WWYD? Please help. Travel question
I don't know how old he will be when you're driving but it took a while before the babies really fit well in their carseats. Their heads went everywhere and we worried about their ability to breath, so because of that if I were in your situation I think I would probably fly. Buy 3 seats (if possible) so that you would have entire row to yourself and don't have to worry about the close proximity of anyone and keep him covered ?as much as possible.?
It's a hard decision either way. I would also talk to your doctor and see what they recommend. I don't envy the move. Good luck.?
I'm not sure - I would ask your pedi. GL that is a difficult decision!
Based on your baby being about 3 months when you'd move, I'd not fly at all, especially in the middle of RSV season! Drive and take as long as you need to take. Stop as often as you need to. Of course talk to your doctor. My MIL is sick and we have to eventually go see her across the country but I won't put my babies on a plane until after RSV season, after April (also per Doctor's orders)
having someone drive with you is a great idea. aaron doesn't do well in the car and our drive was only 5 hours (7 hours with traffic). but with someone driving you can sit int he back and keep an eye on him the whole time.
if you choose to fly, maybe take a late/early flight when there won't be too many people on the plane. then maybe you can sneak to an empty row in the back or something. just a thought. good luck with the move and new job for DH!
