Re: marathon or roundabout

  • We have the marathon.  FWIW, Doodle is almost 3 1/2 and weighs 40 lbs, she's been in this seat for almost 2 years now...we moved her into it around 19-20 months. So it was definitely worth it for us.

  • We have the Marathon and love it. Bailey is already 18lbs at 4 months so I'm really glad we got the upper weight limit one. We've been using since B was 6weeks old and hated the infant seat. He likes his more roomy Marathon :)

  • We have the Marathon for Elizabeth and just got a second for Wills (Merry Christmas, buddy!)

Although E. is only 23 pounds and change at 15 months, two of my friends have kids who were 25 pounds by 8 months and show no signs of slowing down.  I can see, too, where an older kid would like the Marathon over a booster seat; the Marathon has wings where a kid can rest his/her head and nap more comfortably than in a booster.

  • We have a Marathon in our SUV.  We got the Roundabout for our sedan because it fits better, being slightly smaller.  So I guess my answer is to consider the size of your vehicle.  I probably would have gotten another Marathon if size weren't an issue.

  • We got the Roundabout b/c it had a slightly higher rating in Baby Bargains; DS is on the low end of percentile so will fit in it until it's time for a booster at probably 4 yo; it fits really well in my corolla; and I got it for a great price.

I agree with this.  We have the Marathon for our SUV.  DH drives a compact car, so the Marathon won't fit in there.

  • I agree, go w/ the marathon if you have the room for it RF (like an SUV), but if it's a small-medium car, I would go with the roundabout.

  • There is so much discussion about these 2 that now I get confused as to which one I have sometimes.  :)  Especially since we're not using it yet, just got it ahead of time.  We have the Marathon.  My son has always been tiny and I think I would have been comfortable getting the Roundabout too, just found the Marathon on clearance.  Also, that is what got a better rating with my car.  I would look up your vehicle and see which one gets better ratings.  I can't' remember the site for that.  Google or maybe post again asking for the site?  There's a site where you put in your car and carseat and it rates which one is best for your car.

  • We have a marathon and I just wanted to say that it did fit RF in my small/mid-sized car...but only in the middle seat.  I think BRU would let you take it to your car and try it out if you ask.
  • We have 2 Marathons for C, one is in our SUV and the other is in our nanny's car (Accord).  It fits just fine in her car, and it's on the passenger side.  I love this carseat.  Colin is really tall/big and it is a great fit for him.
