One of my girlfriends has a couple of kids in a church preschool program. She works full-time, and her husband is the one who does drop-off and pick-up because his schedule's more flexible than hers is.
So they go in for parent conferences, and the teachers say to her that they don't know how much she cares about her children because she's working and doesn't do drop-off and pick-up. What the heck?!
Re: Would this tick you off?
I would have told off the teachers for being judgmental assclowns and that I would not defend my love for my kids to them, but that they should be ashamed of themselves for being judgmental and out of touch. I would see the principle of the school and tell him how incredibly inappropriate that was.
Yeah, because that's the measure of a mother's love, pick-up and drop-off.
DMoney will be a kickass big sister
Ditto this. I would have a hard time keeping my child in this school if these were the type of teachers he was being exposed to.

Um. Yeah. Piss poor (and that's putting it mildly).
My daycare has met my husband exactly twice. If they had even hinted at something as ridiculous as that: 1. We'd be in a new daycare STAT and 2. Heads would be rolling.

She ripped them a new one, and she's pulling her kids out.
I was just aghast that somebody could even THINK that way in 2009.
Good for her. The person making that comment should lose their job. How incredibly inappropriate!!
I would be furious. Our nanny takes ds and picks him up from preschool. I've only been once (the first day to take pics). DS and DH are the only reasons I go to work every day.
I was getting a *little* of this vibe from our speech therapist because our nanny will have to take him. I flat out told them if they couldn't work with/through her, they wouldn't be working with us at all.
