3rd Tri Question Re: The Baby Whisperer

Good morning ladies,

I was wondering if any of you read (are reading) The Baby Whisperer and are using the E.A.S.Y method? Is it working? How is it working? Or is it bunk?

I know that no book is going to tell me exactly what to do with my child and everything will work out like magic, but I was thinking of using it as a loose guideline and just wondering if it worked.

TIA!

Re: 3rd Tri Question Re: The Baby Whisperer

  • I read it a little while I was PG, and a little bit again now. I think it would work if you are committed to it, but wait till you have your baby and decided if you are willing and/or want to put the baby right in his crib, etc. I found out that I don't!?

  • I tried to use it but kind of gave up. Its really hard to do EASY when you have a baby who falls asleep while eating. Sometimes no matter what I do, even sitting him up and burping him, singing to him-he just wants to snooze. so its more like ESAY for us sometimes.....

  • We love it.  Obviously if she is hungry we feed her no matter the schedule but now she rarely deviates from EASY she is predictable and happy!
  • While we don't follow everything exactly, our DS kind of fell into the EASY routine.  He eats, we play, he sleeps and the whole cycle repeats itself every three hours.  It's nice to be able to have a wee bit of a "routine"...
  • I think this is a GREAT routine builder.  I started when DS was 4 wks and it has made a WORLD of difference.  I can now recognize when he's cranky for a nap or he really is hungry.  The dream feeding worked great the first week and then all of a sudden he wouldn't open his mouth to eat.  So I stopped that.  On average, he goes to bed at 9:30 pm and wakes up for a bottle around 4 then sleeps til I wake him around 6:30 am.  I really like the routine part.  And it's working great for my LO
  • I read the book and really liked the concept but like pp it was impossible to keep DD awake after a feeding when she was new.  Now that she is a bit older it works out and she has actually put herself on the EASY schedule.  She eats, change diaper and play, then nap.  The only difference for me is that it repeats itself every 2-2 1/2 hours usually so she takes shorter naps.  I would say she put herself on this routine at about 7-8 weeks.

  • I think its great.  You can't really follow it exactly as it is because you should feed your baby on demand but the feed, activity, sleep thing is great especially in those first few weeks when they have their days/nights switched.
  • Thanks ladies!

Can't wait to join you. Smile
