The last I heard, the shot is not available yet, only the flumist, which pregnant women are not supposed to take.
If I were pregnant, I would feel the same way, and I fully intend on getting the vaccine before we start to TTC #2 in a few months. Hopefully it will be available for you soon.
DH works for the state Dept. of Health. He said that the vaccines are not available yet, but they are being received by the places that will be administering them. He says that it is going ot be pretty much a mass vaccination in that there will be many administered at one time (maybe all on one day or week etc.) we were at our pediatrician on sunday and they said that they will be administering it (JDC).
BFP #1= DD, We've been TTC DC #2 since 8/11. BFP #2 on 4/18/12, BO confirmed on 5/21/12, natural mc 0n 6/1/12. BFP #3 on 10/11/12....
My OB told me on Friday that they should be receiving their shipment any day now and that they would be calling all of their pregnant patients to start scheduling. So it sounds like they'll be ready soon!
I'm getting one at my family dr in Mechanicsburg on thursday. As soon as I said I was pregnant they scheduled me for the first available appt. I go to Bowmansdale Family Practice.
DS is on the list to get his also, his pedi's office already has them for all their patients scheduled for well visits... but they are making a list of parents to call for when the next shipment comes in.
Due to the short supply, I don't think they will be available at pharmacies, like the seasonal flu shot. You will need to go to your family doctor or pediatrican. I call mine each morning. My son's pediatrician started a waiting list for those who call, my family doctor is preparing a list based on high risk, and my OB's office hasn't received any vaccines yet.
