  We did it when he got home and used a 6 week photo.  Worded it something like born this date with the stats and came home this date with the stats

  I did them while he was still in the nicu...the picture I used he had a feeding tube in his nose and his arm on one of the stabilizer boards due to an iv.

  I waited until DD was home so I could take a picture without the nose tube.

  I did "birth announcements" after his homecoming!  And I took a "newborn" picture as soon as he came home :-)

  We are waiting until he comes home, and I am going to use both a picture of him in the NICU, and one after he gets out.  This way everyone can see how much he has grown.

  That's what we did.  We did a Shutterfly announcement with three pictures, one from her real "birth day", one close up of her tiny foot, and then one picture at home with us.  We also posted the date and measurements at birth and on her "homecoming."  People seemed to like them, and it was fun to announce that she was finally home.
