Parenting after a Loss

Did you lo revert back and forth in sleep habits??

LO was doing great sleeping the bassinet thru the night after a period of only being able to sleep on me. She went through a groth spurt and some gassy days a c afew days ago where she would only sleep and caml down in certain positions (on me) and now has reverted back to wanting to sleep on me again and not in her bed. She is in there right now (knocks on wood) but has not been lasting as long as she used to. Should I expect her to go back and forth for a while until she creates her own routine?

Re: Did you lo revert back and forth in sleep habits??

  • Yes, yes, and yes!! DD is almost a year and every couple of week seems to bring about different sleep patterns. Sometimes she sleeps through the night, sometimes not.

I dont know if other PAL moms share the same expereine, but just when I think I have "figured her out"; she hits us with a different sleep curve ball. It gets crazier as they begin to teethe...

Again, not sure if my experience is unique or not... but what I can say is that fortunately or unfortunately you kind of get used to it (although I would love to get a full night sleep). Here's to a good night!

This.  Exactly.  I'll think I have her routine figured out and then she'll completely change it for awhile.  It really challenges the "scheduled" part of my brain.

Tritto! I think this is one of the most challenging parts of having a baby for me.

  • I know it's hard, but you have GOT to relax.  She will get there... right now there is no method to the madness. You are going to drive yourself crazy if you try analyzing everything this early.
  • Sadly yes! Cora was STTN until 3 weeks ago when she started waking every 1-2 hours which was pure hell, especially since it's when I went back to work. This week she is finally back to the good sleep:)

Yup, that is us minus the STTN part. Supposedly, babies' sleep starts to make some sense at 4-5 months. We are past 11 mos. and I'm still waiting. Every day is different... will she fall asleep at 8pm or 11pm tonight? Will she take 1 2 hour nap or 2 30 minute naps? Who knows!

Oh no. This scares me. I was hoping for things to be more predictable at least by that age.:

This is us too!  I've learned to never say or even THINK "oh, he sleeps x number of hours" b/c as soon as that happens, he changes it up.  Full nights sleep?  What's that? LOL

and I thought I was in the minority here!  Same here.  Some nights he sleeps 8 hours, some nights 4... before he wakes up that is.  He does always go to bed between 6:45 and 7, maybe 7:15 if we push him though, it's the duration that's tricky for us.
