Have you heard the name Herra before?

T's cousin's wife had a baby this morning - Herra Dianne

Is that like Air-A?  Have you heard that before?

ETA: Talked to Dad -- It's Herra, like Hair-a.  :)

  • I would have guessed it would be pronounced like Harrah's casino.

  • Interesting.  We have friends with that last name.  Could it also be like Hera the Greek goddess of love and marriage?
  • The only time I've ever heard anything close to that was Hera in Greek mythology.
  • I've heard of Hera (Greek mythology), but never with two Rs. I googled it and wikipedia says it's the Finnish equivalent for how we use "Mister" or "Sir." (Wikipedia certainly isn't always a reliable source, so I would take that with a grain of salt).

  • Yeah, her daddy is a phd student, studying Rhetoric so...quite in the know about all things literature.  Todd immediately mentioned the Greek Goddess...he said "malicious greek goddess" though...I'd have to look it up.  Anyway, probably is Hair-a.  Hm.  Interesting... :)

And it's the name of the cylon/human child on the latest incarnation of Battlestar Galactica who is supposed to be the hope for the continuation of the species.

    (I'm so ashamed that I know that...Embarrassed )

  • I knew a doberman named Hera, after Greek Mythology. But never a person.

She's no more malicious than the other gods/goddesses in the Greek pantheon. :)

  • My sis went to high school with a girl named Herra. She prounced it with the H sound. Like "HAIR-a"

  • Hera is Zeus' wife and tends to be a bit jealous. Okay, a lot jealous. Juno is the Roman equivalent. I like it. :)
