How bad is GR flu-wise?
We have a wedding there this weekend, and we were going to leave Paige with my mom and aunt.
My mom has the sniffles, but thinks it's weather-related.
My aunt thinks that with the massive amount of schools closed in Grand Rapids that we shouldn't come.
Seriously... it's one of my best friends in the world. How can I not go to his wedding because of the possibility of getting the freaking flu? Paige will be at my aunt's (very clean) house the entire time.
So... how bad is it there? Like, from one mom of a little one to another...
Re: ***Lauren***
Honestly, Brenda, I haven't been there all week so haven't heard much about GR in particular. I mean, 55 schools are closed in the Channel 8 viewing area, so that includes Battle Creek, Kalamazoo, and other areas in addition to GR.
(Here's the list)
If you have an icky feeling about it, don't go. I don't know what I would do, but then again I live there and am choosing to be there this weekend.
So, um, if you DO go, wanna come over?
Holy F-Balls, that's a lot of schools.
In one sense, I feel like it's everywhere, so it doesn't matter, you know?
But in another sense, I feel like the less we're out and about, the better.
But in yet another sense, I feel like there are tons of kids in daycares who are fine - am I really worried about Paige going to my aunt's house (no other kids, clean, healthy, etc)?
I think I'm just being my usual anxiety-ridden self. I wonder if Larry will have an opinion on it...
ETA: I was originally going to ask you if you wanted to GTG at GV, because I thought there was a huge gap between the wedding and reception, but then I realized that it's only a 2 hour gap and by the time we eat lunch, drive out there, yada yada, 2 hours is probably not enough time. BOO.
I know what you mean, going back and forth about whether or not to go. Tough call! I mean, you can't stop your life, but you also can make smart choices. Hmmm.
I could always meet you somewhere, too, so you wouldn't have to drive! If you decide to go, let me know! I can email you my phone number. The only thing I have going on Saturday is a quick Halloween GTG with the neighbor kids - it's at 11 am.
Maybe we could meet up for lunch? Their wedding's at 11am - Catholic wedding - I have no idea how long it's going to be. I'm guessing an hour?
They each have a ridiculous amount of people standing with them (I think he told me TEN on each side) - for some reason, I think more attendants = longer ceremony. Ugh.
Anyway, shoot me your phone number. I'll keep you posted with what we decide tomorrow.
