Had my lap on tuesday

Hi ladies,

I've been MIA due to caring for a sick doggie, but i wanted to update y'all on the lap i had on Tuesday, hope this will help y'all know what to expect.

The prep for the lap was miserable, i was on 'clear liquids' all day monday (the day before) and then had to do a bowel prep procedure that night.  It was miserable and I ended up really not eating anything, including clear liquids, b/c my stomach was so upset after taking the bowel prep meds.

I arrive for my lap at 6AM on tuesday morning and was completely finished by 8:30AM...that was fast!  Doc removed a couple of cysts and diagnosed mild endometriosis, Stage 1/2, which he 'vaporized'. He also found two hernias, one on each side, that he said i need to have repaired b/f getting pregnant, so that means MORE WAITING, ugh that really sucks!!!

The recovery has been reasonably OK.  I felt like a million bucks leaving the hospital, but the IV pain meds wore off that night so reality set in.  I've actually had very mild abdominal pain that i've treated with ibuprofen, the most pain has been due to 'pockets' of gas left over from the procedure that are getting trapped under my ribs and shoulder blades.  Today, 48hrs post op, i'm back at work (albeit from home).

My stomach is swollen, I look about 3 months pregnant so i don't know how i'm going to wear pants for a while, but i have some stretchy dresses so i'll have to go with those.  I'm hoping to hit the gym for a little workout tonight, no running but maybe some eliptical.  The nurse said moving around will help with readsorption of gas pockets.

So...i have to schedule hernia surgery, and after that is complete we'll try a couple of months on clomid b/f proceeding with IUI.  Doc didn't really say wether the endo was the 'smoking gun' or not, but then i guess he really can't tell.

Hope you all are doing well...take care.

-Denise

Re: Had my lap on tuesday

  • be really careful at the gym...I was told that I could not do anything but walk for 6 weeks, around 4 weeks I decided to go for a jog because I was feeling good and well I should not have and the next couple of days were very painful...more abdominal pain then even the lap.

  • The only thing that helped me after my lap was walking around the house (at all hours of the day & night).  Walking was the only way to get rid of the gas.  I'm sure I looked and sounded like a gassy old grandma!  I wore Old Navy stretch/yoga type pants for over a week until the swelling & bloating went down.

Hopefully your surgery took care of the endo & the hernia repair can be done soon.  Hope you & pup are feeling better soon!

  • I'm sorry to hear you have to have more surgery.  Take it easy, and like pp said, walk around the house to get the gas out.  Also, don't be ashamed of wearing elastic waist pants for a couple of weeks.
