3rd Trimester

My LO Has 2 Due Dates!

LO's original due date is 12/7 but she is still in the breech position, so my OB scheduled a C-section for 12/3!!  We're hoping to get her to flip and cancel the c/s, but at the same time I'm kind of weirdly excited to have this slightly earlier delivery date. Can't wait to meet her!!!

Re: My LO Has 2 Due Dates!

  • i actually have 2 due dates too. 11/27 is my original due date from the 1st U/S i got when living out west. then i moved back east and got a new OB (obviously) and they say that my due date is 11/21. they arent comfortable officially changing it though since they didnt do the earlier u/s to date the pregnancy. im hoping for the 21st, but counting on the 27th bc thats what im used to it being in my mind :)

  • I am surprised they already scheduled your c-section.  My LO is breech as well, they said they are giving me until my next appointment (36 weeks), to see if he's moved.  If not, they are scheduling a c-section for me.  I am hoping that he's moved.  But, I still feel him in the same spot, so I am thinking no.
  • I'm also really surprised that they scheduled your section already - my doctor wasn't remotely concerned with the baby's position until 36 weeks.

  • Anything can happen and the anticipation is killing me already!  They said that if I get to the hospital on 12/3 and she has magically flipped that they will just turn me right around and send me home. So we'll see!  I'm kind of conflicted on what to wish for (other than a healthy baby).
  • It's still early and even if the baby flipped now it could flip back easily - that's why most OBs don't worry about it until 35 weeks and won't do a version until 37 weeks.

You can help the baby flip by trying stuff at spinningbabies.com or by going to a chiropractor who does Webster technique (but don't bother with this until you are 36 weeks). Webster techique worked to flip my breech baby.

  • If she flips, do you definitely cancel the c/s? Or is that an option? I didn't realize they scheduled them so far in advance for a breech... actually, I don't know much about scheduled c/s's at all!

Yes, they cancel if she flips. Not all OBs would schedule a c/s this far in advance, I guess it may have to do with the fact that I go to a very busy practice and their schedules are so packed. IDK

  • I don't know if you or anyone else has heard it, but I know many women who have used this website to help to get their babies to flip: spinningbabies.com to help with the not wanting to do a C-section and all.

As for the reason for the reply, I have 2 due dates. I originally was in FL with an OB who determined it to be Jan 6th, 2010. The Geneticist here did two different ultrasound groups on the baby- I was born with birth defect so making sure baby doesn't have it as well as I had a previa placenta(it migrated near my cervix which is common during the 2nd trimester but moved back now). The Geneticist said due to the Baby's growth his due date should be Jan 3rd, 2010. The OB here in AZ won't change it since Ultrasounds can be around 2 weeks off, in some cases more. I'm not sure why and haven't bother checking why. Also the geneticist said my Baby is in the 75% for growth as of 1 month ago where he was 2lbs. He should be just getting to a little over 2lbs now. He's big. Also I'm at 30 weeks, in case, y'all wondered. He actually just dropped today too. Anyway getting off topic.

I would try the spinningbabies.com to see if you can help get your baby into the right position to do vaginal delievery. I never understand why Docs can't just wait an extra week. I mean Babies have been taking longer to gestate(i.e. over 40 weeks- remember it's an average, not the definite number).

Hope that helps. Sorry for the length. I'm long winded.
