Minor MIL vent

So we "came out" to our families about the baby finally. It's my MIL's birthday so we sent her an u/s picture in a frame. We called her (she's out of state) and she said "Well, I got the picture but I can't tell if it's a girl or a boy." Um, you can't tell that for a few more weeks. "Oh, so I don't really know who I'm celebrating yet". Um - miracle grandchild? Grr.

Who knows, people are weird. Maybe she's the kind of person who feels slighted that you didn't call/meet her to tell her personally??

Babies are like weddings sometimes. While you and your spouse are thrilled by your "miracle" baby, not everyone gets that same excitement level going right away... even MILs. And if she's like my own mother, she's maybe just not that into being a grandmother.

I totally feel your frustration. We told the iL at a cookout. MIL got a little photo album with the ultrasound picture in it. She was kinda blah about it. Now this is the same woman who has been bugging us since we started dating that she wanted a Grandchild for Christmas. And low and behold that's when LO is due. We got much more reaction from FIL and SIL. it was SO disappointing!
