I'm officially a hunting widow

DH just left for a big elk hunting trip.  He's hoping to be back home on Halloween.  Two years ago I would have been very excited about this -- now I'm hoping I can handle Erica alone for this long.  I know I can....maybe I just hope for some company so there are some adults to visit with (and a bit of a break for me!)  This is going to happen two more times before November is done, so I'll be spending most of the month alone with DD.  I deserve a nice extended weekend after hunting season is over!

    DH has only been gone every weekend and that sucks. Yuck. Hang in there. And when he gets back go do your thing for a weekend. =) What state are you in?

    oh hai, fellow elk widow!  my H left me for those ugly, stinking beasts on october 15 and is to come home on october 25.  it's been kind of tough with k, especially since she has a cold.  my h owes my huuuuuuuuuugely.

    Wow, that's a long time! Good luck.  I am in MN too...my DH has only gone to WI to hunt once so far. 3 more trips before Thanksgiving.

    my H just has a buck tag so he won't be gone until November...well he'll just be going to his parent's house and I suppose I'll have to go with...ugh.

    My dad and grandpa and uncles go every other year for about 2 weeks. They never get anything. They have gone probably at least 10 times and have never gotten one!

    They get whitetail here every year, but they are really crappy at finding elk, apparently. My sister and brother hunt too. I'm glad H  isn't into it at all. We still get the meat though!

    ugh, my h gets one every time he goes...he bagged his elk after only 2 days this year.  i do not like game meat.

    If DH gets an elk, he wants to mount it in our entry way.  No way -- the thing won't fit in our house so he'll have to find something else to do with it!

    I grew up on game meat...I actually didn't have beef except at restaurants. I can tell a difference now, but I never knew otherwise growing up.
