How open about sex were your parents?

It was rarely mentioned. I learnt about sex from school friends and my parents would turn off the TV if anything vaguely sexual came on

Reasonably open, if a bit embarrassed. I could always go to them with any questions

Very open. They explained everything and I was encouraged to ask questions which they'd answer without embarrassment

My dad was a doctor. He was very clinical about stuff. He was a single parent for most of my teenage years. When I was 18, he took me to dinner and brought another couple- his friends. The wife asked me if I wanted to go on birth control while the husband and my dad pretended not to listen. I started laughing and told my dad if I wanted it, I'd ask him or my OBGYN. My dad was so cute- he thought I'd be embarrassed to ask him so he set it up so I could ask a woman for it.

i would say she was open about it, but she was also scary about it, she tried to scare me so i wouldnt have sex... well i guess it didnt work, but i still think of "it" as something wrong.. because all the stuff i heard growing up.. strange
