3rd Trimester

What does it feel like when you've "dropped?"

I actually was thinking about this only because I had a co-worker ask me if I've dropped. She said that it looks like I'm carrying a lot lower. The only thing that I've noticed physically is that I can actually breathe better (especially when I'm eating) and I feel more pressure really low in my stomach. I don't really have any  pelvic pain, just uncomfortable especially when I'm walking.

I was also thinking, isn't 33 weeks kind of early to "drop?" I thought this was something that happened later.

  • Sounds like you've dropped. Don't worry, I dropped at 32 weeks and am still here :)

  • I don't know about time frames but this week I have noticed I can breathe and eat and there is way more pressure and shooting pains in my cervix and butt so I think thats what it is. My belly looks allot lower too.
  • that seems a bit early to have dropped, but everyone is different! For me, I have pelvic pain (nothing bad, just a little uncomfortable) and it feels like I have a heavy bowling ball pushing down in my uterus.  I've been carrying low the whole time, so I didn't notice any difference in breathing.
  • my baby is as low as she can be and that was what I was told two weeks ago!  we are in the same boat - I feel like it is too early too!
  • i wish i would drop because i cant breathe good at all cause he loves my ribs

  • Interesting, this question has been asked at least 5 times today, I know because I answered it each time!  I don't chat here much but today I did, I wonder if it's asked this much every day?

Anyway, I felt a lot of pressure on my pelvic bone at almost 34 weeks and it felt like there was melon there.  My belly also looks lower.  I asked my doctor and she said it doesn't mean I'll go into early labor.

  • With my son 2 years ago, it felt like I had a stick up my butt when I walked.  There was so much pressure on my pelvis, it hurt to walk.  When he was engaged was the worst....crotch pains! Breathing was easier and I could eat more.  I know I haven't dropped with this one yet...it's too soon for me I think, and it's still hard to breathe and eat as much as I want.
  • I dropped at 30 weeks.  It's more uncomfortable to walk, but easier to breathe!  My doctor isn't worried about it, so I'm not worried about it.
