im thinking i am going to order one so dd can be close and i can use my hands... thoughts from users? i was going to order from the site... any cheaper retailers?
I just bought 5yds of jersey knit material -- its the same thing and far less expensive. You can cut the material in half lengthwise if it seems like too much - but I didn't.
There are directions on how to tie the wrap on the Moby website.
I got the Ultimate Baby Wrap from BRU which I think is the same. It was a *lifesaver* for when LO was really fussy...the forward-facing position was a magic cure when his gas was really bad. Now that he is older I have a jellybean sling which is handier, doesn't take forever to put on, and holds him on my hip hands-free, but I still use the wrap sling from time to time.

I have a different brand, which I forget the name of, but its the same thing. Mine was my SIL's so I don't know how much it was. I love it, and its especially great when they're still small. Very secure and cozy for them, and much easier to use than it looks at first. I used to use it to grocery shop and DS almost always fell asleep halfway through the store.
I also have the Ultimate Baby Wrap from BRU- same thing. I like it but it is a bit more complicated than the baby Bjorn. I tend to use the Bjorn more because of this.

I have a Bjorn, Moby, a sling from BRU, and a peanut shell sling.
I'm petite and I felt like the Moby was just too much fabric. I felt like a mummy. It was hard to get on and hard to get DD into it. I preferred the bjorn - less options, but much easier to get on and off. And I felt more secure with her in the bjorn. I was afraid with the Moby I'd do it wrong.
The sling from BRU was terrible - DD was almost 9lbs at birth so she was heavy and akward in the sling. I got the peanut shell when she was about 9 mo. She can sit on my hip and my hands are free. Spreads her weight across my back/shoulders instead of my arms. I'll also use it with #2 as a regular sling. I think I might get one of the asian style carriers that can go front or back too.
My DD liked it for a very short time when she was really little. She got frustrated being so cinched in and then got too heavy. (She's been in the 98th percentile pretty consistently.) I'm glad I borrowed it because we got little use out of it...but it was great while it worked!
I have one but I rarely use it. It was too hot to wrap in August and September in Texas, and now we're in the habit of using a ring sling or mei tai most of the time. I just find them both quicker and easier to transport than the moby.
I had a Sleepy Wrap and a Moby and I love the SW a LOT more. It's stretchier and stays snug against my body more. I sold the Moby and still have the Sleepy.

Oh and DH will wear the bjorn but no other ones.
