Handicapped Parking?

I work on a really large college campus and often have to park in a lot that is about 3-4 blocks away....with the Wisconsin winter coming and my mobility decreasing I am wondering if a multiple pregnancy will qualify me for handicapped parking.

Anyone do this while pg? How would I go about it? Through my OB?

Thanks for any advice/suggestions!

Re: Handicapped Parking?

  • The head of security approched me and asked me if I wanted a parking pass. I was pregnant during the winter months and he said he was nervous watching me walk through the parking lots with all of the ice.

So I would start there, if you have security.  If not maybe check with HR.  I doubt you will need a Dr's note.  I just needed to put the security pass in my window so when they patrol the lot they knew I could park there.  But it was not a blue handicap sign so it was only good in my work lot.

  • I park all day long for my job - pharma sales- so my Ob wrote me a note to get a disabled parking tag... I just brought it to the town I live in's police dept- and a woman had me fill out a form and took the doc's note- i came back the next day and it was ready for me- and good for 6 months, which was perfect because it expired a few weeks after my c/section, so i was able to use it right after i had them, too.

especially with snow/ice being really bad in parking lots- and taking a fall = can cause PTL - there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to get it, unless your OB is an a-hole :)

My OB wrote me one.  It lasted until the girls were a few months old.  IT was awesome!
  • my ob filled out the form from the tax collectors/ tag office and then i brought it back and paid $15.  i LOVE it!!! i've been on bedrest since 20weeks...
  • I contimplated asking my ob the same thing because parking at my hospital where I have weekly NST's can be absolutely rediculous. Then it dawned on me that I am supposed to be on modified bed rest and not driving (which I am and I don't) so she'd probably tell me my ride should be dropping me off first anyway. I'd ask if I were you!!!!!
  • Thanks, all. I have an appointment on Monday, I will ask then.

  • I had one...but I was on strict BR for IC...it was for 3 months....but I only used it for 4 weeks before my water broke and the girls were born prematurely. I didn't feel right using it after I was no longer technically disabled (since I couldn't physically walk anywhere I was considered disabled by the state I live in).
