...when did your cycle return?
Guess this is a s/o of E_sharp's question yesterday. Just curious if you did anything to hasten AF's return or if there was a point where your nursing pattern changed quite a bit that triggered AF's return. I know everyone responds differently, but just wondering ;-)
I would like to TTC when kiddo is one but I know we won't be finished nursing then so I'm hoping AF shows up in the next few months.
Re: If you got pregnant (or AF) while breastfeeding...
AF came back when DD was 14 months old and down to 3 nursing sessions per day, but it went on a brief hiatus when she had some molars coming in and was back up to nursing 5-6x/day.
Mine is a bit muddy bc I had a mirena IUD. But, I *think* my cycle returned around the time I nightweaned, which makes sense. That was around 16-17 months.
Up until nightweaning DS pretty much nrused like a newborn, ie around the clock.
I got pg the first cycle we tried, which was when he was 21 months. I had been charting before that and was definitely ovulating, etc. My milk immediately dried up so be aware of that.

I got my first AF around 8 months PP. I haven't had one since though.
I didn't do anything to bring it on - same amount of pumping, same amount of nursing. Granted she started STTN more often, but that had been for a couple months.
My period came back at around 6 months postpartum. I didn't notice any change in nursing behavior that triggered it. However, my cycle was very irregular and my periods were very light, and did not have any PMS symptoms like my pre-pregnancy periods.
Now I am on Implanon and my period seems to have disappeared again.

I posted in the previous thread, but AF returned at 11 or 12 months. Around 9 months (I'm pretty sure that's when it was though I said 10 in the previous post) I started taking Vitex. Also, we began slooooowly night weaning just before a year, so that could have had something to do with it. And I don't remember how much Vitex, but I'm pretty sure it was the max dosage recommended.
I totally could have caught that first egg, because I could tell I was ovulating and then confirmed it with an OPK, but then I chickened out! I had AF and then a longer than normal cycle (around 40 days), and then conceived on the next cycle. I continued to take Vitex after that first AF in an attempt to get back to normal cycles more quickly.
It all worked out perfectly, and we weaned at about 18 months. She somewhat self-weaned with a little nudge from me. Something about being pregnant made nursing lose it's appeal for both of us!
