  Yes.  I haven't had to do it for myself, but I know of people who have changed intials for their new babies.  I'd do it unless it is just incredibly expensive (I really have no idea how much it costs)

  it shouldn't be too much, they just remove the stitching altogether and remonogram it.   And it shouldn't be noticeable since almost all the letters are the same, it's just one that's different.

  I used to work at a monogramming shop in college and we did this all the time.  Usually we would remove all the stitching for them (or you could do this if you're comfortable with a thread puller) then give it back to them to wash (it helps close up all the little needle holes) then we would just re-monogram the whole thing.
