whats on your bed ?

I have a 'waterproof' mattress pad on our bed (bought from walmart) - its not plasticy or anything and we've always had it on the bed, so I have no clue how waterproof it really is. DH is convinced I should sleep on those incontinence pads or something.

Just curious what everyone else is doing?

Re: whats on your bed ?

  • My mom is a nurse and brought me home incontinence pads. I laughed at her, she is worried Ill ruin my matress without using them.

  • i have a water proof crib sheet under my arse on my side of the bed. and ive decided im not going anywhere anymore....no grocery store, no drugstore. I wouldnt knwo what to do if my water broke in public!
  • I sleep with my butt/hips on an old folded up quilt that has the chucks pad from when I went to L&D under 1 layer of the quilt. This is mainly because I have mattress pads (memory foam) on all my mattresses and they're expensive.

When I'm having good contractions, I sit on one in my parents recliners... just in case. I think my Dad would be petrified if I broke my water all over his chair!

  • I have a waterproof mattress pad on the bed (I think I got it from Walmart too.) I do have chux pads (Those ones from the hospital) for after the baby is born since I'll be home and not at the hospital.

  • We also have a waterproof mattress pad, but we also have a waterbed, so it's not like it's going to ruin the mattress anyways.

Honestly, I'm not at all concerned, especially considering only about 13% of women have their water break before going into labor... chances are I'll have some heads-up before finding myself in a puddle of fluid.

  • I don't have any waterproof anything on the bed.. Our mattress needs to be replaced anyway, so if my water ended up breaking while I was in bed.. it would be the perfect excuse to get a new one. LOL
  • I mostly sleep in the recliner and I put a towel on the seat.

  • I just have a waterproof pad over the mattress.  The demo at the store had it over a jar of water and turned upside down, and it didn't leak -- got it at Sleepys.  I figure it's good enough.

  • I've just started putting a towel underneath me wherever I sit or lay.  DH would die if I ruined our mattress b/c it's a really nice one, so I guess I better get some kind of water-proof something to lay under it.  I'm also afraid of ruining our leather couch, so a towel is always on the couch b/c that is where I sit the most.
  • We, too, have had a waterproof mattress pad on the bed anyway.  We bought it when our dog was still a not-potty-trained puppy. (She's a chihuahua and sleeps with us.)  It does work!  She has peed and puked on it, and it's never gone through.  I think you'll be OK with your pad.
  • I didn't do anything with my son and didn't even think about that!  We have a mattress pad but not sure if it's water proof?
