Baby-proofing

Is your whole house baby-proofed? Or, do you just try to keep your child in a confined area?  I've been going with the second approach, but I'm starting to think that baby-proofing everything will be a better idea . . . especially once she starts walking.

Re: Baby-proofing

  • I was raised in a house that was not baby proofed. Our house is not either, other that stair gates, but that is for containment more than anything. We do not leave them alone. My kids get hurt on everything but outlets and wires, like J face planted on the floor for no reason last night.

  • I keep the doors to all the rooms closed the main house is babyproofed. It is close to impossible to keep J confined to one area LOL
  • We're probably not going to all-out baby proof in that we're not going to rearrange furniture and cover up all the table edges. I think we'll probably get the outlet covers and install a baby gate in our upstairs hallway. The basement has a door so we'll keep that closed and if necessary we'll keep the powder room door closed if it seems like she's interested in that. But really, we'll more likely just keep a close eye on her. I'd rather her learn (eventually when she can comprehend) her limits than just be 'bubble-wrapped.'
