metformin for GD

If you're taking metformin for your GD, how much mg have you been subscribed?

I originally got 500, than my doctor asked me to start taking 2 pills and now i'm suppose to start 3 if my fasting levels are more than 90 in 2 days (which they were over the weekend).. i'm  just petrified of taking 1500 when i was originally prescribed 500mg.

    Do you mean metformin? The standard dose is 1000 - 1500. The small dose 500 is just to get your body used to it (so you don't have major gastrointestinal distress!). It's a pretty mild drug in the grand scheme so the only thing to really worry about is eating well to avoid diarreah, etc.

    that explains my more frequent bathroom breaks i guess.

    Iwas taking 1500/day and recently was moved up to 2000mg/day.
