I've been having contractions all night but nothing too horrible that I cant sleep so I know I'm not very far into early labor. These radiate to my back, pelvic floor, and bottom. Some have been uncomfortable but not horrible yet. Im just having trouble deciding when they start and stop because my abdomen hardens and then it doesn't automatically just stop. It's more of a slow fade so its hard for me to know when to tell my husband to stop the watch. I guess I'll run some errands, do some grocery shopping and when I start to really feel uncomfortable I'll start timing them again. They say not to get too obsessed with timing them at the beginning anyway. I'm already 3 cm dilated and 100% effaced so I don't want to go to far away and end up getting into the horrible labor that I can't drive through. I doubt that will happen though, I think I have a while to go if this really is actual labor pains.
Re: Timing contractions/ early labor question.
In my labor experience, I did have something like what you are describing for about 4 days prior to the actual labor contractions. For me, it was very obvious when the "real" contractions began. Brought me to my knees.
Everyone is different though. I had back labor so it was pretty intense. I wasn't even 3 cm until I was at the hospital for a few hours.
I was like what you are describing for days. but even after my water started leaking they never hurt terribly until I had to push! But I went in when they were 3-4 min apart.
Exactly this. I had the tightening for weeks. When it was real labor, the contractions felt exactly like period cramps and I could DEFINITELY tell when they were coming and going. You will know.
