Re: clicky - opening bday presents

  • For the first B-day party my DD really didn't understand what was going on and would rather play with the boxes and wrapping paper.  We had a lot of people and it would have taken forever.

She did open her gifts on her 2nd b-day party.

As a side note I don't like opening gifts in front of everyone.  Mostly because of my MIL who on several occasions has felt that I haven't made a big enough of a deal about her gift in front of everyone and gets her panties in a wad.  This happened at both my bridal shower & baby shower.  The baby shower she left in tears!

  • It will probably be during the party but no necessarily in front of everyone. I am not going to make people sit around and watch.

  • I clicked open the gifts after the party.  We're expecting a lot of people, and DS won't really know what's going on anyway.  He'll just start trying to eat the wrapping paper.  LOL.  I've been thinking of this, because I wonder if people will expect the gifts to be opened at the party.  I prefer not to, but I feel like people will request it and we'll end up doing it to please everyone.

  • I have been undecided about this, we went to my cousin's bday party in August, and all the other kids (that were slightly older) kept trying to open his gifts and making him mad.  I think when its time, I will just have her "open" them at the party, but not do a big thing where everyone needs to watch or anything like that.

The only person that asked at my DD 1st party was my MIL.  She didn't like that we weren't doing it and said something to my DH.  He said well can we.  I said nope we said no and we are sticking to it.

She left soon after because she felt that there was no reason to stay around.

We had a lot of people over 40 and we did basically an open house type thing.

I just made an annoucement that we would not be opening the gifts during the party because it would just take forever because she didn't get what was going on.
