Hi Ladies,
I've decided to ask this question on your board since I'm pretty certain most or ALL of you have started solids (probably awhile ago for some of you).
DS is 4 1/2 months old. Our pedi suggested starting rice cereal a few weeks back since he was still BFing every 2 hours during the day and she felt he needed more than just BM to keep him satisfied. I started him on the rice cereal with no issues, then tried oatmeal with no issues. After doing a few weeks of these, her suggestion was to start adding fruit or veggies. So the other day we tried Gerber organic applesauce. I mixed it with BM and some rice cereal. His poops were ok for a day or two and then last night the sh*t literally hit the fan (well almost
) He stirred all night long seemingly uncomfortable and hadn't pooped all day yesterday (very unusual for him). This morning he finally pooped while he was in the jumperoo and it was so thick and pasty. It also had greenish stuff in it which looked almost like lettuce....obviously it's not lettuce though. So I'm concerned about my boy. I wonder if it's normal since we've added some new food to his diet or if I should be concerned. Figured I'd check with some other mommies before bothering my pedi for what I think might be a silly question.
TIA
Re: Question from a mommy of a 4 month old
Ditto. Also, rice, bananas and applesauce can cause constipation, so it's possible that he was stirring at night because he was uncomfortable. Generally, foods that start with "p" will help him go: peaches, prunes, peas, etc. Once you start introducing new foods you'll figure it all out.
